The club is a city with Real Madrid was founded on April 26, 1903 by three Basque students living in Madrid. Initially the club was founded as a branch of Athletic Bilbao club who had already been established (1898).

Many former players from Real Madrid FC join this new club, where initially the club wore blue and white costume like that worn costumes Athletic Bilbao.

In 1921 the club officially broke away from Athletic Bilbao. And in 1923, Atletico Madrid, who changed his costume into the red and white stripes set up the first stadium, named Metropolitano.


A number of top players ever to play at this club, among which are: Spain coach Luis Aragones at the 2006 World Cup, vava, Brazilian star in the 1970 World Cup, Argentina goalkeeper Ubaldo Fillol when the 1978 World Cup champions until the striker Christian Vieri of Italy.
